Trusting in Kingdoms of our Own Design

This does not apply just to pastors or elders but to all believers. Here is an excerpt from the book;

Because of hidden idolatries and motivations in our heart, we tend to design our kingdom around our heart’s desires. So sin defines the “perfect world” on its own terms. A perfect world is where I have my desires fulfilled now.

As painful as it is (and it is painful) may God crush our ideas of his kingdom and may we praise him for it!

It reminds me of Paul’s words;
“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”

or

John’s words;
“Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.”
