A Thought from last week’s evening sermon by Mark Soud

And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile, knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.                                                                                                               1 Peter 1:17-19

(This won’t be an exact quote) On the phrase “knowing that you were ransomed” –

There is never a time, as a human being when we are “our own”. Before we are converted we are in bondage to Satan and our flesh. After conversion we are Christ’s; bought with a price.

Is there scripture that supports this thought? Certainly, there are several but specifically see Romans 6:17-18, 2 Timothy 2:24-26, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 and Colossians 1:13
